SUMMARY:Old Dovorian Golf Society Match at Richmond Park
DESCRIPTION:The course has as it’s club house the famous ‘Sudbrook House’ built around 1725 by renowned architect\, James Gibbs\, for John Campbell\, 2nd Duke of Argyll. It is Grade 1 listed and is widely regarded as one of the finest examples of eighteenth-century English Palladian architecture. \nThe course was originally laid out in 1891 by prolific and esteemed course architect Tom Dunn in attractive parkland bordering Richmond Park and Ham Common. \nIn recent years\, the course has been substantially upgraded. The redesign won the prestigious Golf Inc World Renovation of the Year award for 2012 and is still the only course in the UK to be honoured! \nAt 6\,100 yards\, the course is not long. Nonetheless it presents a stiff challenge to golfers of all abilities. Narrow tree-lined fairways and strategically placed bunkers put a premium on accuracy. Built around 1725 by the celebrated architect James Gibbs for John Campbell\, 2nd Duke of Argyll\, this Grade I listed \nbuilding is widely regarded as one of the finest examples of 18th-century English Palladian architecture. \n🌳 A Course Steeped in Legacy \nOriginally laid out in 1891 by the prolific course designer Tom Dunn\, the course winds through picturesque parkland bordering Richmond Park and Ham Common. In recent years\, it has undergone a major transformation\, earning the Golf Inc.
