A Literary Visit to Market Square Kitchen
– On Friday, The Market Square Kitchen were delighted to welcome Gillian Holmes (POW 84–86)—also known to readers as acclaimed author Ginny Bell—to The Market Square Kitchen, owned by fellow Old Dovorian Joey Libby (S02–11) and his partner.
Gillian generously dropped off a full set of her wartime novels, each inspired by the resilience and spirit of Dover. Fittingly, The Market Square Kitchen itself serves as the real-life backdrop for her captivating series, which centres around the fictional “Castle Café” nestled in Market Square.
During her visit, Gillian spent time chatting with staff and customers, sharing the stories behind her books and the charm of the community that fuels her writing.
We’re proud to see Old Dovorians continuing to make their mark—on the page and in the heart of Dover.
