As the Royal British Legion launches the 2025 Poppy Appeal, we stand united in remembrance of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation and the Commonwealth.
This annual act of remembrance serves not only to honour the fallen but also to acknowledge the profound impact on those who survived, along with their families and loved ones who continue to bear the scars of war.
From the harrowing battles of the Somme during the First World War to the resolute stand at Dunkirk and horror of D-Day in the Second World War, and through to the more recent conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, we reflect on the bravery, dedication, and sacrifice of all who have served. In particular, we pay tribute to the Old Dovorians whose commitment to these values has shaped our future and community.
As we remember their courage, let us also recognize the strength of those who relive the horrors of their experiences each day. Their resilience is a testament to the human spirit and a reminder of the costs of freedom.
At the going down of the sun, we will remember them.
