2025: A Year of Firsts, Friendships, and Fairways

This year marked an exciting new chapter for the ODGS with the launch of our inaugural ‘Home’ Fixtures—an inspired initiative where ODGS members welcomed fellow ODs to play at their home clubs at member guest rates. These friendly gatherings opened the door to a host of exceptional courses not previously on our fixture list, and the response has been nothing short of fantastic.

We extend heartfelt thanks to our generous hosts:

  • Richard Owen, who kicked things off at West Hill GC
  • Nigel Tubman, who hosted two memorable days at Littlestone GC
  • Justin Hatfield, who welcomed us twice to The Richmond GC
  • Jack Fuller, who made the journey from Belgium to host at Rye GC
  • Patrick King, who strolled from the bottom of his garden to host our final event at Bramley GC

These new fixtures beautifully complemented our cherished traditions: the OD Invitational at Tandridge GC, the Triangular Match at West Surrey GC (expertly organised by Tony Robin), and the OD Autumn Meeting, now thriving in its new home at Lamberhurst GC.

Participation in OD golf has reached its highest level in years—a testament to the camaraderie and spirit that define our society.

A special mention goes to the College Fun Day at Etchinghill, which defied a monsoon to deliver record-breaking attendance from pupils, parents, and staff. Huge thanks to Vicky Jones, whose behind-the-scenes efforts made it all possible.

2025 also saw the launch of our ODGS Alumni membership category, welcoming six new members who represent the future of our society. And following the AGM, we’re thrilled to announce that another exciting membership category is on the horizon—stay tuned for details in the new year.

🏆 Congratulations to Tony Robin, our most consistent golfer of the year and winner of the Bruce Johnston Salver, with Nigel Tubman close behind.

Looking ahead, the popularity of our Home Fixtures has inspired us to schedule seven more for 2026, along with a brand-new Open Invitational at Betchworth GC (Dorking, Surrey). These affordable, sociable days are perfect for reconnecting with fellow ODs—whether you’re a seasoned member or joining us for the first time.

Here’s to more golf, more laughter, and more shared memories in 2026!
