Old Dovorian Takes His Place in Historic Windsor Castle Duties
On 19 May, the 1st Regiment Royal Horse Artillery proudly assumed their ceremonial responsibilities at Windsor Castle, joining the distinguished detachment entrusted with the world‑famous Changing of the Guard. Among them stood one of our own: Archie Grove (L14–24).
Archie joined the 1st Regiment Royal Horse Artillery last year after successfully completing his basic training, and he has already embraced a series of prestigious ceremonial duties. His service has included forming part of the honour guard during a visit by His Majesty The King, as well as taking his place on the ceremonial guard at Windsor Castle — a role steeped in centuries of tradition, discipline, and national pride.
These duties are far more than symbolic. They represent the highest standards of military precision and public service, showcasing the professionalism of the British Army to millions of visitors from around the world. To see an Old Dovorian contributing to such historic responsibilities is a moment of immense pride for our community.
We extend our warmest congratulations to Archie and wish him every success as he continues to build his career within the British Army. We look forward to following his journey with great interest and admiration.
