Roger Charles Willcocks (P72 – 77)

It is with great sadness that the Old Dovorian Club reports the passing of Roger Willcocks. Roger was in Priory House and became Head of Priory in 1977. During his time at Dover College, he was an Oxbridge Scholar, a member of the essay society, and played in the school rugby, cricket, and squash teams.

After leaving Dover College, he went up to Trinity College, Cambridge, to read Modern Languages, majoring in French and German, obtaining a Master of Arts Degree (MA) in 1980. During his time at Trinity, he founded “The Comic,” a humorous magazine, and also ran the “Trinity Newsletter.” On the sports field, he represented Trinity in football and squash.

Upon graduating from Cambridge in September 1980, Roger joined Helix Software as a manager, a position he held until December 1984. He then joined Intelligent Environments as MD and CEO, a position he held for 16 years. During this time, he also had responsibilities including Senior Vice President North America and Managing Director Europe.

After leaving Helix Software, Roger founded Technology Ventures Consulting, which provides advice to early-stage tech businesses. In 2008, Roger founded Screen Pages, a business that provides e-commerce services for online retailers.

Outside of his professional life, Roger maintained a keen interest in both football and music, passions he held until his illness of Fronto-Temporal Dementia took its toll. Diagnosed in his fifties, Roger spent his final years in residential care.

Roger leaves behind a wife and four children, who did him proud at his funeral on 6th November 2024 at Putney Vale Crematorium in London
