Match Report – West Hill Golf Club, Friday 13th June 2025
This was the first of our ‘Home’ Fixture events, hosted by Richard Owen , who not only organised the day, but very generously covered the green fees for the 3 ODs who were lucky enough to secure a place.
West Hill is a classic Surrey heathland course which comfortably sits in the Top 100 lists covering the UK and Ireland. The towering pines lining the course , are just one of the multiple hazards to greet your golf ball, that is if you are skilled enough to clear the many heather entrapments.
According to Richard the course was in very good condition, with firm but reasonable greens, with warm sunny temperatures in the low twenties.
It was therefore not surprising that Ricard’s local knowledge and experience of working his way round the course came into play to secure the highest stableford score, followed closely by Tony & Jarle.. (An excellent bottle of wine awaits Richard at the AGM).
As you can see from the above photo of our intrepid players the visit was thoroughly enjoyed (we are not sure if this was the pre match warmup drink or the post-match contemplation period !). Many thanks again to Richard.
