Running with Purpose: Mike Walsh (01–07) Takes on The Big Half in Memory of Rupert Hill
On Sunday, 7 September 2025, Mike Walsh (01–07) proudly took part in The Big Half, a vibrant celebration of community, resilience, and athletic spirit. Starting beside the iconic Tower Bridge, the half marathon winds through the heart of London, showcasing the rich character of Tower Hamlets, Southwark, Lewisham, and Greenwich.
Mike joined thousands of runners on the 13-mile flat course, culminating at the historic Cutty Sark—a finish line as memorable as the journey itself. But for Mike, this wasn’t just a race. It was a tribute.
This year’s run was dedicated to the memory of Rupert Hill, who courageously battled cancer until the end of last year. Rupert’s strength, warmth, and enduring legacy were with Mike every step of the way, turning each mile into a moment of reflection and honour.
All proceeds from Mike’s fundraising efforts will go to Pilgrims Hospice, whose compassionate care supported Rupert and his family during his final days. Their work continues to make a profound difference in the lives of many, and every donation helps extend that impact.
Together, we run not just for fitness—but for love, remembrance, and hope.
You can still make a donation, and it would mean the world. Every contribution helps Pilgrims Hospices continue their incredible work—offering compassionate care and unwavering support to patients and their families when they need it most.
