Old Dovorian Lodge Marks a Memorable 351st Meeting with New Member and Charitable Donation
On 2 December 2025, the Old Dovorian Lodge gathered at Freemasons’ Hall in London for its 351st regular meeting — a date that is always significant in the Lodge calendar. The December meeting traditionally marks both the close of the calendar year and the conclusion of the Lodge’s Masonic year, during which the new Master is elected. This year, however, the evening carried an additional sense of occasion.
The Lodge was delighted to welcome a new member into its ranks — and into Freemasonry itself. This milestone, the first initiation in six years, was warmly received by all present and served as a reminder of the Lodge’s enduring spirit and commitment to growth.
Another highlight of the evening was the Lodge’s approval of a £1,500 donation from the Master’s 2025/2026 Charity List to Beyond the Wire, a young but deeply meaningful charity dedicated to supporting the families of service personnel who have died while serving their country.
Founded to ensure that no member of the Armed Forces bereaved community feels forgotten or alone, Beyond the Wire advocates for cultural and policy change while providing practical and emotional support. One of its key initiatives is the development of an online Bereavement Hub, essentially a one stop shop, with all the information in one place, designed to help families feel connected, informed, and cared for during the most difficult of times, the hub will be the first of its kind in the UK.
The Lodge’s donation will contribute directly to this initiative, as well as to the charity’s ongoing research into improving bereavement support across the Armed Forces community.
Given Dover College’s long and proud association with the armed and reserve forces, the Lodge felt it both fitting and important to support a charity whose mission resonates so strongly with the College’s heritage. Even a modest contribution can make a profound difference to the families served by Beyond the Wire, both across the UK and throughout the Commonwealth.
