Dover College has always benefited from a setting unlike any other in the UK—where the sea is not just a backdrop, but part of our identity. Today, we are delighted to announce a new collaboration that celebrates this heritage and opens exciting opportunities for our pupils.

Beginning in the Summer Term 2026, Dover College will launch a refreshed sailing programme in partnership with the Cinque Ports Sailing Club in Dover, generously supported and funded by the Old Dovorian Trust. This three‑way cooperation brings together the College, a respected local sailing organisation, and the enduring support of our Old Dovorian community.

Sailing for Every Pupil

From next summer, all Dover College pupils will have the chance to learn to sail—an experience that builds confidence, resilience, teamwork, and independence. Our coastal location offers a natural classroom, and this programme ensures pupils can make the most of it. The skills they develop on the water will stay with them long after they leave the College.

Honouring Tradition, Strengthening Community

Sailing has long been woven into the fabric of Dover College, reflecting our historic ties to the sea and to the town. Reviving this tradition through a partnership with the Cinque Ports Sailing Club allows us not only to reconnect with our maritime roots but also to support a valued local organisation. Together, we are strengthening the bond between the College and the wider Dover community.

Made Possible by the Old Dovorian Trust

This initiative has been made possible through the generous support of the Old Dovorian Trust, whose commitment continues to enhance the educational experience of every pupil. Their investment ensures that Dover College can broaden its opportunities while maintaining long‑term stability and a clear vision for the future. We are deeply grateful for their ongoing dedication.

The First of Many Exciting Developments

The sailing programme marks the beginning of a series of new initiatives that will be announced over the coming year. Alongside continued improvements to our facilities, these developments reflect our commitment to sustainable growth—balancing innovation with the long‑term security families expect from Dover College.

We look forward to seeing our pupils take to the water, embrace new challenges, and continue the proud tradition of Dover College’s connection with the sea.
