ODGS “Justin Hatfield Invitational Match”

Monday, 11th August 2025 Richmond Golf Club
As part of the exciting new initiative launched by the Old Dovorian Golf Society this year, we are proud to announce the third “Invitational Match” of the season: the prestigious Justin Hatfield Invitational Match.
⛳ A Historic Setting
This year’s match will be held at the magnificent Richmond Golf Club, whose clubhouse is none other than the iconic Sudbrook House. Built around 1725 by the celebrated architect James Gibbs for John Campbell, 2nd Duke of Argyll, this Grade I listed
building is widely regarded as one of the finest examples of 18th-century English Palladian architecture.
🌳 A Course Steeped in Legacy
Originally laid out in 1891 by the prolific course designer Tom Dunn, the course winds through picturesque parkland bordering Richmond Park and Ham Common. In recent years, it has undergone a major transformation, earning the Golf Inc. World Renovation of the Year Award in 2012—the only UK course to receive this honour.
🎯 A True Golfer’s Test
Measuring 6,100 yards, the course may not be long, but it offers a formidable challenge to players of all skill levels. With narrow, tree-lined fairways, strategically placed bunkers, and six par-3 holes averaging 182 yards, precision and strategy will be key to success
