Overseas Old Dovorian Groups
The Old Dovorian Club has maintained connections with its alumni and former staff since its establishment in 1887. Notably, Old Dovorians whose parents were stationed abroad with the armed forces or diplomatic corps would send their children back to England for education.
It wasn’t until 1958 that the then Headmaster, Mr. A.D.C. Peterson, implemented a significant and innovative change at the College by introducing an International Faculty. This initiative was further developed by his successor, Mr. T. Cobb, who upheld the strong international ties that continue to be a part of the College’s identity.
Consequently, the Club has fostered and sustained connections with Old Dovorians abroad by establishing local Old Dovorian Club satellites. These are managed by local ODs as autonomous entities within the Old Dovorian Club community, serving to organize casual gatherings with fellow Old Dovorians, act as a central point of contact for ODs visiting or new to the area, all bonded by the shared experience of an education at Dover College.
