Old Dovorian Sports & Social Hub
The Old Dovorian Club hosts a variety of sporting and social groups, operated by Old Dovorians for the benefit of its members. These independent groups function within the United Kingdom and globally, including locations such as Singapore, Hong Kong, and Africa.
The Old Dovorian Club currently has two sporting groups: the Old Dovorian Cricket Club and the Old Dovorian Golf Society.
The Old Dovorian Cricket Club’s origins date back to the 1880s, appearing in various forms, either as an independent entity or as part of the Old Dovorian Club. It has only recently re-established itself as an independent group within the Old Dovorian community after nearly 80 years.
The Old Dovorian Golf Society is a relatively new addition, established in the 1960s by Old Dovorians with a passion for golf. It has maintained a full schedule of fixtures throughout the year, including the recently introduced annual summer golf match against the school.
The Old Dovorian Cricket Club and Golf Society participate in numerous matches against various clubs, golf societies, and school alumni, primarily throughout the South East of England and London.
The Club’s annual London Cocktail party, a highly anticipated event, is the year’s highlight. It takes place in mid-January at the RAF Club in Piccadilly, alongside various other formal and informal events occurring throughout the year.
Moreover, one of the club’s fundamental principles is to foster unity among Old Dovorians and to support the various Old Dovorian Club groups established by the club. This principle extends to individual Old Dovorians situated both in the UK and globally, in both social and professional contexts.
It is a natural inclination for Old Dovorians, united by the shared experience of education at Dover College, to maintain connections not only with their former classmates but also with alumni from different years, including those who have recently graduated.
The Club is committed to keeping its members informed and up-to-date with Club news, activities, and members’ updates through its online publication, The Dovorian News.
