Old Dovorian CC against The Forty Club Match Report
The Old Dovorian Cricket Club hosted the Forty Club at Folkestone Cricket Club on Wednesday 6th May, This game was always going to be special, because it was the first time for decades that the two clubs have played against each other, but this was not the only first, as it signified the first time that the Old Dovorian Cricket Club had a young lady in there eleven, namely Aditi Aryan, who picked up a couple of wickets with her medium pace swing bowling, also the Forty Club also had a young lady in there side, namely Lottie Hayward who was not out at the end of the Forty Club Innings, Lottie is the daughter of Clifford Hayward the Forty Club Match Manager.
The Old Dovorian Cricket Club on the whole produced a commanding all‑round performance to secure a 72‑run victory over the Forty Club in an entertaining 40‑over fixture filled with momentum swings, standout partnerships, and a superb display of disciplined bowling.
Batting first, the ODs built steadily through the top order before unleashing a late‑innings surge. A. Tosh (40) and A. Stanley (42) laid the foundations with a composed 95‑run opening stand, but it was the explosive unbeaten partnership between H. Roberts (51)* and M. Jay (49)* that transformed the innings. Their 98‑run stand in the final overs powered the ODs to an imposing 225–5
The Forty Club reply never fully recovered from an early collapse at 21–4, despite a magnificent counterattacking innings from S. Williamson, whose 85 off 65 balls kept the contest alive far longer than expected. Once he fell, the OD bowlers tightened their grip.
J. Deverson (2–8) and A. Aryan (2–26) set the tone with miserly spells, while M. Jackson (2–34) and H. Roberts (2–26) closed out the innings to dismiss the Forty Club for 153 in 35.4 overs.
A strong team performance, a superb batting finish, and disciplined bowling ensured a memorable win for the Old Dovorian Cricket Club.
