Old Dovorian Surrey Group Enjoys a Vibrant Annual Lunch in Guildford
On Friday 8th May, the Old Dovorian Surrey Group — formerly known as the Cranleigh Group — came together for their much‑loved annual lunch, held this year at the elegant Country Club in Guildford. The event was once again expertly organised by Tony Robin (M61–66), whose dedication and hard work continue to make this gathering a highlight of the OD calendar. The Old Dovorian Club was delighted to support the occasion.
More than 20 Old Dovorians attended, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere filled with conversation, laughter, and shared memories. The group was especially pleased to welcome Mr Phil Tattersall‑King, Headmaster of Dover College, who joined the Surrey Group lunch for the very first time.
The Headmaster delivered an engaging and informative update on life at the College, sharing insights into current developments and exciting plans for the future.
His remarks were met with great enthusiasm, sparking a lively and thoughtful question‑and‑answer session with attendees who were keen to hear more.
The afternoon unfolded in the best possible way — excellent food, good wine, and even better company, all set against the charming backdrop of the Country Club. It was a thoroughly enjoyable occasion for everyone present.
Looking ahead, the Surrey Group is keen to welcome more lady Old Dovorians, especially as the College recently celebrated 50 years since girls were first admitted.
