Old Dovorian Cricket Club: A Spirited T20 Season and a Special Match Ahead

OD Cricket Club have wrapped up their first-ever T20 campaign—and what a ride it’s been!

The Old Dovorian Cricket Club have been busy over the last couple of weeks, taking on two more T20 fixtures and serving up exactly what we love most about OD cricket: commitment, camaraderie, and a whole lot of entertainment.

Our results may have been mixed, but the spirit was anything but.

We opened with a tough outing against Worth Cricket Club, who proved too strong on the day and took the win by 74 runs. Not the result we hoped for, but the team fought hard and kept their heads high.

And that resilience paid off. In the next match, the ODCC boys bounced right back with a narrow but thoroughly deserved 10‑run victory over Sheldwich Cricket Club. A proper nail‑biter, and exactly the kind of determined performance that shows what this squad is made of.

With that, our first-ever dedicated T20 fixture list comes to a close: two wins from three, a brilliant return for a debut campaign and a testament to the effort, organisation, and enthusiasm shown by everyone involved.

A huge thank you must go to Matt Jay, our Club Captain, whose dedication and drive made this season’s T20 programme possible. Matt has been supported superbly by every player who stepped onto the field across the three matches—true team spirit from start to finish.

Performance highlights were plentiful. J. Libby, M. Jay, A. Stanley, A. Brown, and H. Roberts all delivered consistently strong batting across the campaign, while J. Libby, A. Stanley, and A. Brown produced excellent bowling figures throughout. A proper all‑round team effort.

Next Up Is The Rupert Hill Memorial Match – Sunday 19 July 2026

Now we turn our attention to the highlight of the season: The Rupert Hill Memorial Match, played in partnership with Folkestone Cricket Club at Three Hills Sports Park, Folkestone.

This annual fixture is far more than just a game. It’s a celebration of Rupert’s life—his humour, his warmth, and his love for cricket. The GRH Memorial Shield is currently held by Folkestone CC, and the Old Dovorian Cricket Club will be looking to continue their winning streak and bring it home once again.

We warmly invite you to join us on Sunday 19 July 2026. Pack your cooler bags, gather your friends, and come enjoy a day filled with cricket, community, and laughter—exactly the way Rupert would have wanted it.

Here’s to remembering a wonderful man and enjoying the “Glorious Game” he cherished so dearly. If you’re playing or simply coming along to support, please register your availability so we can plan catering numbers: odcricketclub@gmail.com
