The Rupert Hill Memorial Cricket Match – Celebrating Friendship, Joy, and the Glorious Game

The Rupert Hill Memorial Cricket Match is back for its second year!

The much‑loved Rupert Hill Memorial Cricket Match returns for its second year, and once again we gather to celebrate a man who brought laughter, kindness, and an infectious love of cricket to everyone around him. Rupert may no longer be with us, but the joy he shared on and off the pitch continues to bring people together in the most wonderful way.

On Sunday, 19th July 2026, the Old Dovorian Cricket Club, in partnership with Folkestone Cricket Club, will proudly host this special fixture at Three Hills Sports Park, Folkestone. Now firmly established as an annual event, the match for the GRH Memorial Trophy honours Rupert’s legacy with the same warmth and good humour he was known for.

Rupert adored cricket not just the sport itself, but the camaraderie, the gentle teasing between teammates, the long afternoons in the sunshine, and the friendships forged over shared innings. This day reflects all of that. It’s not only a match; it’s a celebration of Rupert’s spirit, his love for the Old Dovorian community, and the way he made everyone feel welcome.

Families, friends, Old Dovorians, and past and present Dover College staff are all invited to join us for a relaxed, joyful afternoon. There will be a BBQ (TDC) or suitable spread of food available, refreshments from the pavilion, and free parking on site. Whether you’re cheering from the boundary or stepping up to bat, you’ll be part of a day filled with smiles, stories, and the simple pleasure of being together.
