The Old Dovorian community continues to thrive, and nowhere is that more evident than in the growing partnership between the Old Dovorian Golf Society, and the Old Dovorian Cricket Club. These groups have been steadily building a shared culture of support, camaraderie, and involvement, and the upcoming autumn golf day is another brilliant example of that spirit in action.
On Thursday 29th October 2026, the OD Golf Society return to the fairways with another joint event bringing together students and parents of Dover College, OD golfers, and for the first time at this fixture members of the OD Cricket Club. It’s a wonderful opportunity
for two Old Dovorian sporting groups to come together, enjoy each other’s company, and strengthen the bonds that make our community so special.
A Stunning Venue for a Growing Tradition
The Golf Society are delighted to confirm that this year’s half‑term event will take place at Sene Valley Golf Club, beautifully positioned on the downs just outside Folkestone and Hythe. The course offers sweeping views across the English Channel, rolling fairways, and greens that promise both challenge and enjoyment. After play, golfers can relax in the clubhouse, which boasts one of the most striking panoramas in Kent — a horseshoe sweep of coastline stretching across Hythe.
This venue holds particular sentimental value for our host, Stephen Allyne, a proud member of Sene Valley GC. With both his parents having served as captains of the club, this event marks a nostalgic return, Stephen last played the course more than 50 years ago and is looking forward to seeing what has changed.
A Cross‑Club Line‑Up
Alongside ODGS members, parents, pupils and members of staff, we are thrilled to welcome four players from the Old Dovorian Cricket Club, further strengthening the connection between our sporting communities. With 16 players confirmed, we will be playing in groups of four, ensuring a lively and sociable round for all.
